If you are a British teenager 15-17 looking for an adventure away from home this summer, this programme is for you. Whether your objective is passing your Gold Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Residential or simply a fun mini-break with other teenagers from the UK and around world, having worked hard all year, you deserve a residential activity programme that is special.

What’s different?

The clue is in the word ‘international’. If you choose MTE International Summer Camp, you will be doing your programme along side other young people from 20+ countries: right here in the UK. Participants come from every corner of Europe including France, Spain, Italy, Germany plus places as far away as Brazil and Mexico.

Where is it?

MTE International Summer Camp takes place in the spectacular 50 acre grounds of Moor Park, which is a boarding school in Ludlow, Shropshire.

Do  one MAJOR in the morning  then learn different skills by following a MINOR  in the afternoon. Relax late afternoon, evening and at the weekend with MULTI-ACTIVITY & SOCIAL PROGRAMME: sports, activies, events and excursions.

What is the age of the other participants on campus?

Mornings: you will be doing your Major with British & International  teenagers between 15 and 17 years old.

Afternoons: Minors are open to all ages, though of course, coaches will group participants according to their age.

Majors: 

Mornings – 12 hours 

Major: Sports Academy Golf

The secret to golf is concentration and coordination. You will learn with PGA qualified golf coach Dan Francis and you will be doing your lessons at the 18-hole Ludlow Golf Club, which offers a driving range and a wide variety of holes including some with bunkers. Moor Park also has a 9-hole Par 3 golf course on campus. You will work on a range of shots from ‘set and swing’ to chipping and putting in order to build a complete game. The coaches use video playback to help even the most advanced players make big improvements in their technique.

Some experience recommended so that you can get the most out of this intensive course.

Major: Sports Academy Basketball

Major: Sports Academy Basketball

Trained by expert coaches, you will work to elevate your basketball game prioritising ball control, but focusing also on shooting, dribbling, defending, rebounding, and passing.

Minors: 

Afternoons: 10 hours

Minor: Karting School

Experience the thrill of motorsports! Racing takes place on a 600-metre professional track in twin-engine pro-karts. Passion for what you do is everything: participants will be taught by karting champion, engineer and entrepreneur Chris Powell & his team. The week culminates with race day when students compete for a trophy.

Daily checks, training & partnership with the National Karting Association ensure the safety of the course.  Karts are limited to 30 km/h rising, with each assessment passed, to a maximum of 60 km/h.

Also includes one session of quad bike training & riding in the forest.

Minor: Film Making

Working with an expert film teacher and other young people from around the world, DofE Gold candidates storyboard, shoot and edit your very own film. The end result is then shown to an audience. This option is superb for developing your creative, technical and learning to communicate across cultures in mixed nationality teams.

 

Minor: Dance

Working with professional dance teachers, you will learn different dance styles from around the world and work together in mixed nationality teams to create a choreographed dance show to present to the camp.

Drills, skills and matches: get ready to work hard with top level professional coaches learning with the most modern training methods. Sharing your passion for football: there is no better way to make lifelong friendships from around the world.

Minor: Pro Basketball

Minor: Pro Basketball

Trained by expert coaches, you will work to elevate your basketball game prioritising ball control, but focusing also on shooting, dribbling, defending, rebounding, and passing.

Social

In addition to focused Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award residential activities, you will also benefit from a full programme of sports, activities, events and excursions.

Excursions on the 2025 programme include: Oxford (July 16) and Bristol (Juy 26), Liverpool (July 30), Bath (August 9).

Being a member of the host nation confers on you a special responsibility to present the best side of the UK to the international community. Give examples from your life to demonstrate that you have the skills & mindset to be an effective ambassador for the UK.

Some participants on the programme will be younger than you. Given an example from your school life of a time you mentored or helped a younger pupil.

  • Arrival day is Sunday. Please arrive on campus at 1700-1730.
  • Departure day is Friday. Please organise your departure from campus at 1630.

I will be travelling by train. How do I get to the campus?

Ludlow train station is 5-9 minutes’ drive (35-40 minutes’ walk) from the campus. Please do not walk from the train station with your suitcase.  If you are travelling by train:

  • Arrival: a school vehicle / a taxi will collect you at 1700 (Sunday) from Ludlow train station. Cost £10.
  • Departure: a school vehicle / a taxi will take you to Ludlow train station at 1630 (Friday).  Cost £10.

Can I go off-campus alone?
  • The safety and welfare of participants is our first priority.  For this reason, summer school is a structured environment and students are only allowed off campus with staff. You will have some free time on your full-day excursion.
